Embracing the Season of Letting Go: A September Reflection
Once a month, I share a more personal blog post, and what better time to start than this September, with a behind-the-scenes look at all the NEW developments in the business.
Welcoming Autumn
But before we dive in, let’s take a moment to welcome my favourite season of the year. Maybe it's because I’m an autumn colour-wise (iykyk), or because I happily indulge in one pumpkin spice coffee a year, or perhaps because I used to own a candle company—but I simply cannot wait for autumn. I love the back-to-school feeling, the crisp morning air on my walks with Sophie, and the profound story the trees share with us during this time of year.
Notice what the Trees are Teaching Us
Autumn is the season of letting go, and I encourage you to really notice what the trees are teaching us. If your 2024 isn’t going as planned, if you’re facing disappointments, walking through a hard season, struggling with anxiety or depression, or watching someone you love go through a tough time—now is the perfect moment to engage in the act of letting go.
People travel from all over the world to witness the beauty of the fall in New England, USA. This act of death and rebirth is so breathtaking, we can’t help but be drawn to it. It resonates with something deep inside of us—perhaps the part of us that needs to be released so it can be reborn into something even more beautiful.
Letting Go with Ease
I believe the idea of letting go is often misunderstood as loss. But when you let go, you create fertile space for something better, something more aligned with who you truly are. And we’re pretty big on that around here. Here’s how I think each Enneagram type can welcome in letting go this season:
Type 1 - Embrace
Type 2 - Trust
Type 3 - Set Free
Type 4 - Sacrifice
Type 5 - Surrender
Type 6 - Relinquish
Type 7 - Concede
Type 8 - Submit
Type 9 - Release
Perfectionism Getting the Better of You Again?
Speaking of letting go, my new podcast, Guided, launches in a week, and I’m feeling ready. The journey to this point has been no small feat. Training with a big-time podcaster earlier this year has equipped me to do this, and in true Enneagram 1 style, I was determined to get it as perfect as possible. Or so I thought...
Then, I stumbled across this quote this morning: “Perfectionism is for those who do not trust in their own talents.” Ouch. Isn’t it incredible when something is both painful and true? I had this very conversation with a client just yesterday—when we’re growing our capacity to hold more truth, it can be painful as we stretch, opening our hands and hearts a little wider. But it’s worth it every time.
So, I’m leaning into letting go of perfectionism again, and again, and again, as I embrace the unfurling of this new leaf: I trust my own talent. Do you trust yours?
I’m genuinely excited about the podcast. It’s packed with practical advice, personal anecdotes, and insights that I hope will resonate with you—all delivered in a short, punchy format so it won’t take up hours of your week. We’re stepping into the most efficient, radiant, and effective part of 2024, and I’m honoured to have you on this journey with me.
Some Personal News
September is also the month I’m moving into a beautiful new home, where I’ll have my very first at-home office. I’m unbelievably excited about this. Podcasting in my garden office is a dream I envisioned about a year ago, and I’m thrilled to see it come to life. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see pictures!
A Seasonal Reset
One last thing before I go—I haven’t mentioned this anywhere else, so if you’re reading this, you’re the first to know! I’m launching a Seasonal Reset: The Art of Letting Go online class. As the leaves fall and the air cools, this 90-minute guided experience is your invitation to release what no longer serves you and create space for renewal. Together, we’ll explore calming meditation, reflective journaling, and mindful practices that honor the natural cycles of change. With a focus on letting go, this class offers a gentle yet powerful reset for your mind, body, and soul. If you feel called to join, you can sign up here:
